Spinning

Spinning rods are the easiest rods to handle for lure fishing, but they also cover many technical uses. They can be used for trout, perch, zander, pike or sea bass with soft lures, hard baits, jigs, spoons, casting jigs or finesse rigs.

A spinning rod should be chosen according to its power rating, length, action and the type of fishing being practiced. A short and light rod works well for accurate casts in rivers or from a float tube. A longer rod helps with bank fishing, longer casts, line control and lure animation at distance. For zander fishing, especially in linear retrieves or vertical fishing, blank sensitivity becomes essential.

Light and ultra-light models are suited to trout, perch and small lures. Medium and medium-heavy powers cover many zander, light pike and sea bass situations. Stronger spinning rods are designed for heavier lures, saltwater fishing or powerful fish.

At Hook’up, the spinning rod selection is built around real fishing uses: finesse fishing, bank fishing, vertical fishing, linear retrieves, saltwater fishing, trout, zander, pike and all-round setups. The right rod must cast the lure properly, animate it accurately and keep enough reserve for hooksets and fighting fish.
