The Merisuola Musky Fly Rod is based on the high-end Merisuola model, but is designed specifically for very large streamers and fish capable of putting a rod under extreme stress. The 8'8" length offers greater maneuverability than a classic 9' rod from a boat, particularly when working the fly near the shore, making quick angle changes, and performing figure-eight retrieves when a fish follows right up to your feet. The unsanded, unpainted, graphene-reinforced blank features a medium-fast action that loads better than an overly stiff rod when using bulky flies. The extended EVA fore and rear grips provide solid support for long casts, powerful hooksets, and maintaining pressure during the fight. The #10 is ideal for large pike streamers and boat fishing, while the #12 takes over when the flies, wind, or target fish demand significantly more power.
