This rig features a pink Shamalo soft-bodied lure mounted above a 40-gram sinker. It’s used for tataki fishing with a single jig, on a short line that’s easy to handle.

The 40/100 nylon line is 120 cm long. The 9-cm Shamalo has a phosphorescent body and an iridescent coating; the rig is mounted on a floating foam leader. Lower the sinker to the desired depth, give it a few small jerks, then pause. Maintain even tension as you reel it in to keep the tentacles on the basket.
