The XO Fly Reel features a rigid, machined construction with a wide arbor and a waterproof disc drag. The lighter sizes maintain good retrieval speed without adding bulk, while the #9-10 and #10-12 models feature a more powerful drag system for salmon and saltwater fishing. The drag provides smooth, consistent resistance, which helps control the pressure on a fish that’s taking up backing. The full-rim frame on the larger sizes keeps thin running lines securely in place. The right model is chosen primarily based on the rod class and the required backing capacity.
