The Subzero 80g offers superior insulation compared to the 60g version, while maintaining a lightweight and breathable construction. The outer fabric is windproof and quick-drying, with a PFC-free C0 water-repellent treatment that’s useful in light, short-lived rain. The jacket isn’t waterproof, but it serves well as a warm layer during approach hikes, while waiting on the bank, or during sessions exposed to the wind. The warm, removable hood provides better protection when worn as an outer layer. When removed, it makes the jacket slimmer and easier to wear under a wading jacket.
