The equalizer is useful when the tips need to form a smooth edge, such as on a sedge wing. First, remove the down and any fibers that are too short, then place the hairs tip-down into the cone. Tap the tool on its rubber base to align the tips. Open it horizontally to remove the tuft without losing the alignment. Choose the cone based on its capacity: too many hairs packed too tightly together won’t slide through properly.
