The Hends Pearl Scudback is a 3-mm-wide iridescent ribbon designed for the backs of nymphs, particularly Czech nymphs. The ribbon covers the top of the body, creating a distinct area of iridescence that stands out from the texture of the dubbing.
It is also used for streamer bodies. On a nymph, the 3-mm width matches that of the back; the attachment points and wrapping are prepared before folding the strip down. The choice of shade then determines the color of this covering.
