Soft swimbaits for pike, bass and predators

Soft swimbaits are swimming soft lures designed to present a realistic meal to predators. Their wide action, soft body and volume make them useful for pike, black bass, active zander and larger fish holding around baitfish.

They can be fished with a slow steady retrieve, faster over weed beds, with lifts or with pauses depending on lure density. The right choice depends on weight, depth, baitfish size and the reaction you want: follow, reflex strike or bite on the pause.

How to choose a soft swimbait?

• Compact size: bass, perch, active zander and wary fish.
• Large profile: pike, stained water, bigger forage and more water displacement.
• Pre-rigged model: practical when you need a balanced ready-to-fish setup.
• Unrigged model: lets you adapt jig head, weedless hook or shallow rig.

In snaggy areas, a shallow or weedless rig limits hang-ups. In open water or along breaks, a heavier setup helps keep the lure in the right layer and maintain contact during the retrieve.
