The Outerwear category brings together Simms jackets, shells, fleece layers, insulation and outer protection for fishing in rain, wind, cold or long exposed sessions. It includes G3 Guide, G4 Pro, ProDry, Challenger, Freestone, Flyweight Shell, Bulkley, CX, Guide Classic, Splash Cast, Vapor Elite, insulated jackets, fleece layers, windshells and technical vests.

A fishing jacket should be chosen by weather, fishing style and its role in the layering system. Shells and rain jackets matter most when waterproofing, breathability and wind protection are priorities. G3, G4, ProDry, Guide Classic and Flyweight models are more relevant for wading, boat or exposed bank fishing where reliable outer protection is needed.

Challenger, Freestone, Bulkley, insulated jackets, fleece layers and Fall Run styles are better suited to cool conditions, midlayers or days when warmth and comfort matter as much as protection. Lightweight jackets and windshells fit mobile approaches, fast weather changes and mid-season fishing.

Before choosing, check waterproofing, breathability, fit, hood, pockets, length, compatibility with waders or a vest, boat or bank use, and whether you can layer insulation underneath. For heavy rain, prioritise a true shell; for cold weather, combine insulation with outer protection.
