Hends Tube Backing - Backing creux

The Hends Tube Backing is placed on the reel before the fly line. The amount of backing available depends on the length installed and the remaining space on the spool: it is available in 50- and 100-yard sizes, with a nominal strength of 20 lb.

Its cavity allows the tip of the fly line to be inserted into the backing. Hends then describes finishing the line with a light coat of adhesive, a thread tie, and a layer of fly-tying varnish. The white and fluorescent orange colors make it easy to spot this backing as it comes off the reel.
