Varivas 8 Multicolor is an eight-strand PE braid that changes color every 10m. When jigging, count the sections as the line leaves the reel, then let out the same amount on the next drop after a strike. Choose the PE size for the strength you need and the spool length to suit the capacity of your reel.
Watch the color change as the braid passes through the first guide. Three full sections mean you have let out 30m of line. That gives you a reference for the next drop, even when the lure is out of sight. In a crosscurrent the line angles away from the boat, so the jig will be shallower than the length of line out. The close weave and smooth coating also help the braid run through the rod guides when casting.
The PE number is the line size; the figure in pounds is the rated maximum breaking strength. A 150m spool of PE1 has the same 20lb rating as a 300m spool of PE1. The longer spool gives you more line to fill a larger reel or leave a reserve for deeper water.
