It runs on four R20/R20PU batteries, not included. It is rated water-resistant to 50 m. Check the closure and the condition of the seals before submerging the device; a dirty or damaged sealing surface will compromise the water resistance. After use in saltwater, rinse the exterior with fresh water and let it dry before opening. Battery life depends largely on the type of batteries used.
