The Clear-S Pencil comes into its own when bonito, sea bass, mackerel, or bluefish are selective about their prey and reject lures with overly distinct profiles. Its density and stability in flight make it ideal for long casts toward feeding schools, followed by retrieving it just below the surface or in mid-water. The most direct retrieve involves letting the lure sink, following with a series of short jerks, then accelerating in a fast, straight line without breaking the surface. The transparent polycarbonate body and reinforced through-wire frame meet two needs: visual discretion and durability against powerful fish. Use with a saltwater spinning setup or fast shore jigging rig, 8-strand braided line, and a fluorocarbon leader suited to the target species.
