The UVL is used after spreading the resin over the mount. Hold the different sides up to the light to expose the body or head all around the hook. The time required depends on the resin used and the thickness of the application; areas obscured by the materials will be less exposed. Keep the light beam directed at the fly and avoid direct exposure to the eyes.
