The floss replicates the irregularities of whatever lies beneath it: start with a base layer of thread that has no dips or steps. Then wrap the NFL with even tension to create a continuous body. A thin metal wrap highlights the segments and holds the wrapping in place. On a short hook, stop the floss early enough to leave room for a compact head.
