The Shock Max is a tapered leader designed to absorb the tension of the cast. Its diameter gradually decreases toward the main line, creating a thinner transition while maintaining a thicker diameter at the other end.
The thin section of the Shock Max connects to the main line; the diameter then increases toward the tip, which bears the force of the cast. This gradual increase prevents a thick line from being attached directly to the reel line.
Each section is 15 meters long. The thinnest section ranges from 0.18 mm to 0.50 mm. The other four end at 0.57 mm, starting at 0.20 mm, 0.23 mm, 0.26 mm, or 0.35 mm.
The starting diameter is chosen to match that of the main line to ensure a seamless connection.
