Choose the feather based on the length of its barbs and the part of the fly you’re tying. Trim off any barbs that are too short at the base before securing the quill. For a collar, guide the fibers backward as you wrap. Stop wrapping early enough to keep the head short and leave the red area exposed. This preparation complements the PT5 tail feather for flies that use different golden pheasant feathers.
