The Sawamura One Up Shad 7″ is a 148mm, 32g soft paddle tail that swims on a slow retrieve, even without added weight. Rig it weedless for pike around cover or fish it on a jig head for zander and sea bass in deeper water.
For weed beds and submerged branches, rig the shad on an unweighted 8/0 Decoy Worm 26 with the point tucked into the back. The soft body compresses on a take, allowing the point to clear. A steady retrieve sets the paddle tail working.
For a retrieve near the bottom or a vertical presentation, use a jig head with a 4/0 or 5/0 hook. The soft bait alone weighs 32g, so count the head as well when checking the casting weight of your rod. Each pack contains three shads with Sawamura’s Trump scent.
