Slow Jig
The Slow Jig category brings together metal jigs designed for a slower and more precise approach than casting jigs. Their strength is to stay longer in a productive area, often close to the bottom or around structure, with a fluttering fall that can trigger less active fish.
Slow jigging is mainly used at sea, in vertical fishing or controlled drifts from a boat. A slow jig is not only about speed: it relies on side movement, falling action, pauses and short lifts to stay visible in the strike zone.
This technique is useful for sea bass, pollack, dentex, snapper, amberjack, bonito and other saltwater predators holding on drop-offs, rock marks, wrecks, reefs or uneven bottoms. It is especially interesting when fish follow but do not hit faster lures.
Choose your slow jig by weight, profile, balance, sink speed, depth and current. A wider or asymmetrical jig flutters more; a denser model sinks faster and keeps better contact. Assist hooks, braid, rod action and drag setting should match the jig weight and the fish targeted.
Work it with short lifts, half turns of the reel handle, pauses and a controlled fall. Many bites come as the jig sinks, so keep contact without killing the action and adjust the rhythm until you find the cadence that triggers strikes.
