The partridge feather is tied into a sparse hackle to leave the body visible. Sort the feathers by fiber length, then remove any down that would interfere with the tie. Depending on the size of the feather, one or a few wraps are enough to form the hackle. Guide the fibers backward and maintain moderate tension on the quill to prevent breakage.
